Here is a listing and description of some of the special Lancaster County events taking place in February of 2010.

The dates, times, and admission prices are accurate as of the time of this posting. However, it is possible that changes may occur as the year progresses.

Adamstown

Brewer's 2nd Annual Winterfest - Beer aficionados, rejoice. There's something about the bitter cold winter season that just begs to be paired with fine craft brews. STOUDTS Brewing will be headlining a repetoire of strong, unique and specialty aged beers from Lancaster Brewing, Yards, Allagash, Great Divide, Smuttynose, 21st Amendment.

Enjoy the great lagers and ales. Delicious food will be served and live entertainment will be on hand, featuring Octavia and the EarthBlood Blues Band.

Columbia

Chinese New Year Celebration - Activities for families included with museum admission. Demonstrations and performances of traditional Asian singing, dancing, creating racing dragon boat puppets, creating Tangram puzzles, making a Chinese yo-yo and more.

Third Annual Taste of the Rivertowns - Taste of The Rivertowns will showcase the best of the area's antiques, collectibles, art and edibles. A variety of restaurants will be on hand with samples and food for sale.

Elizabethtown

Wu Man, Pipa - Romance and music are truly international languages. Renowned in the USA for her show stopping appearances with Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road project, Chinese pipa virtuoso, Wu Man, will give a rare and passionate solo performance perfect for the occasion.

Driving Miss Daisy - Alfred Uhry's funny, touching and poignant Pulitzer Prize winning play spans some of the most tumultuous years in American Civil Rights history.

The place is the Deep South, the time 1948, and the rich, crusty and sharp-tongued 72-year-old Jewish widow Daisy Werthan has demolished another car. Her businessman son, Boolie, hires Hoke, a thoughtful, unemployed black man to serve as his mother's chauffeur.

The next 25 years show a story of stubbornness, independence, and the gentle evolution of a most unlikely friendship.

Phil Vassar - Contemporary country singer Phil Vassar— often called ‘the hardest working man in country music,’ had been a chart-topping songwriter, long before making his mark as a singer. He has written material for every other country singer like, Alan Jackson, Collin Raye, Jo Dee Messina, Tim McGraw —even Engelbert Humperdinck.

These days, he sings his own songs. His current album is entitled “Prayer of a Common Man.” His hits include, “Just Another Day in Paradise,” “Prayer of a Common Man,” “Six Pack Summer,” and “That’s When I Love You,” to name a few.

Music Friday - Each third Friday of the month, downtown Lancaster hosts Music Fridays. Sponsored by WXPN, live performances will explode throughout the 300 block of North Queen Street as well as retailers, restaurants, and attractions throughout Downtown.

Each month will bring new entertainment to the streets of downtown Lancaster.

Maple Sugaring - Join County Park Naturalists for ongoing maple sugaring demonstrations. Learn to identify sugar maple trees; participate as trees are tapped; and, help out as the sap boiled to syrup, and candy is made from the syrup. Maple products will be on sale.

You can hear maple sugaring stories, learn about the history of maple syrup making, try your luck at sugaring games, and listen to the sounds and songs of sugaring season with Naturalist Lee Amigh.

Lancaster Historic Home Show- Lancaster is the oldest inland city in the United States of America. It is a diverse, thriving community dedicated to preserving its' architectural heritage.

Nationally famous for the varied local architectural styles reflecting over 250 years of settlement, growth, and change this area has experienced.

This event will bring together owners of older buildings with professionals to help them care for, furnish, and upgrade their buildings in a historically sensitive manner. There will be demonstrations of traditional crafts and building methods, as well as, educational seminars.
